me iThink therefore iKickass

I'm a lover and a fighter, a romantic and a cynic. I read deep philosophical tomes and watch cartoons. I have swam in oceans, hiked on mountains, ran races, driven through the US from coast to coast, and sky-dived. I've made split second decisions to drive from the big city to the country. I believe in love and its ability to supersede any obstacle, but my feet are firmly grounded. I'm not afraid to admit weakness, and I think it is very important to make virtue a habit. A muscle grows stronger with use, and a mind stretched to new dimensions is never the same again.

Treasure Map

You receive a treasure map and a folded note, then is ushered through a door. Upon crossing the threshold, you enter total blackness, then is engulfed in light. Then life begins. You look at your treasure map, and you realize it’s entirely blank. In fact, you have no idea where you are, where you must go, and how close you are to the next destination. This journey is called Life, and only with the progression of time do you see images appear on the map. Oddly, those images are only of places you have seen and experienced. It is a journey of twisting trails, dense forests, and imposing mountains. As you journey through Life, you realize certain things: like a treasure map, the clues to the next destination are often tricky and subtle, frequently little more than a whispered word or a passing glance. There’s more than one treasure trove, and a limitless number of destinations. But that claim is paradoxical, because although there are destinations, you either can’t tell or they’re really not destinations, because they invariably lead you elsewhere.

But most of you will forget, after embarking on this journey, that you have a folded piece of paper in your hand. It holds the only certainty that exists in your journey, and very few ever decide to open it. Those that do will find wisdom in the form of a quote:

“Wherever you go, there you are.”
